About me

Nunca he sentido que tuviera que elegir entre estilos musicales. Con el tiempo, me doy cuenta que este sentir no ha sido una decisión propia. Durante mi carrera, los caminos me han llevado a compartir escenario con formaciones y artistas muy diversos con los que he podido vivir encuentros muy especiales y que han sido fuente de inspiración para mi música. Estos abarcan desde la música clásica con la Orquesta Filarmónica de Rotterdam o Nederland Blazers Ensemble, pasando por el flamenco de Estrella Morente, Alba Molina o Rycardo Moreno, el jazz junto a Perico Sambeat, Guillermo McGill, Maria João, Horacio Fumero, hasta artistas como Pasión Vega, Javier Ruibal, Chipi La Canalla o Juana Gaitán. Además, también he formado parte de proyectos como Naftule (Holanda), la Clasijazz Big Band, Andalucía Big Band o La Bejazz (España).

También otras disciplinas artísticas han enriquecido mi experiencia como tocar para el baile flamenco con Úrsula López, Jesús Herrera o el Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía; o componer para espectáculos de teatro y danza contemporánea como El Festín de los Cuerpos de Arturo Parrilla, Perseidas o Still de Raquel Madrid, este último premiado como mejor espacio sonoro por los premios Zentradas en 2025. Gracias a todos estos proyectos, he podido llevar mi música a escenarios de todo el mundo pasando por México, Japón, Marruecos, Corea, Francia, Pakistán, Alemania, Colombia o Finlandia.

Una de las facetas donde más me divierto e identifico es a través de la composición, donde doy mi voz a todas esas experiencias vividas. Actualmente, tengo el placer de seguir explorando el diálogo entre el flamenco y el jazz con Bernardo Parrilla Quinteto. Fruto de esta búsqueda se grabó Calle Olmedo (2022), un primer encuentro de este diálogo. No es mi único proyecto dedicado a la fusión del flamenco con otras músicas, con Borondo Trío nos centramos en buscar una sonoridad entre la música clásica, el jazz y el flamenco.

También me gusta enseñar lo que aprendo en el camino. He sido profesor de saxofón y otras materias en la especialidad de jazz en el Conservatorio Superior de Málaga durante los cursos 2022–2024, y actualmente doy clases en el Centro Andaluz de Música Moderna (CAMM). Para mí, la música es una forma de contar lo que uno lleva dentro. Y cada escenario, cada clase, cada encuentro es una oportunidad de seguir afinando esa voz.

I have never felt the need to choose between musical styles. Over time, I realize that this feeling was never really a conscious decision. Throughout my career, different paths have led me to share the stage with a wide range of ensembles and artists, allowing me to experience very special encounters that have been a constant source of inspiration for my music.

These collaborations have spanned from classical music, with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Nederland Blazers Ensemble, to flamenco with artists like Estrella Morente, Alba Molina, and Rycardo Moreno; jazz with Perico Sambeat, Guillermo McGill, Maria João, and Horacio Fumero; and also with artists such as Pasión Vega, Javier Ruibal, Chipi La Canalla, and Juana Gaitán.
I have also been part of projects like Naftule (Netherlands), the Clasijazz Big Band, the Andalucía Big Band, and La Bejazz (Spain).

Other artistic disciplines have also enriched my experience, such as playing for flamenco dance with Úrsula López, Jesús Herrera, and the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía; as well as composing for theater and contemporary dance productions like El Festín de los Cuerpos by Arturo Parrilla, and Perseidas and Still by Raquel Madrid — the latter awarded Best Sound Design at the Zentradas Awards 2025.
Thanks to all these projects, I have had the opportunity to bring my music to stages all around the world, performing in countries such as Mexico, Japan, Morocco, South Korea, France, Pakistan, Germany, Colombia, and Finland.

One of the aspects where I feel most connected and truly myself is through composition, where I give voice to all these lived experiences.
Currently, I continue to explore the dialogue between flamenco and jazz through the Bernardo Parrilla Quintet. As a result of this exploration, we recorded Calle Olmedo (2022), a first encounter between these two worlds.
This is not my only project dedicated to blending flamenco with other musical languages — with Borondo Trío, we focus on finding a sound that bridges classical music, jazz, and flamenco.

I also enjoy sharing what I learn along the way. I was a professor of saxophone and other subjects within the jazz department at the Conservatorio Superior de Málaga during the 2022–2024 academic years, and I am currently teaching at the Andalusian Center for Modern Music (CAMM).

For me, music is a way of telling the story one carries inside. And every performance, every class, every meeting is a new opportunity to keep fine-tuning that voice.
